is it possible to drop a building or other object w/ clickable doors attached? Or must the doors be separate and placed after dropping the building?
Also can someone explain Main Prim, and how to assign a prim as Main or Prime or whatever the exact term is? thx

Doors cannot be linked to the rest of the structure in order to work. The 'parent' prim (aka 'root prim') is the last prim selected when you link multiple prims together. Hope that helps.

Doors can be linked and still work, only if they are one-prim doors. They work the same way car doors and airplane canopies are able to open/close while linked.

It really just depends on what kind of door script you are using. Some are designed to be linked, some are not. The best way to find out is to try it both ways.

I have a couple of buildings with door sets that won't work if they're linked to anything they shouldn't be. To package them up, I can just link 'em all together, and unlink the doors when I dump them again (ctrl+shift+L, shift-click the door, ctrl+L to relink building). Also worth remembering is the fact you can take unlinked objects into your inventory and drop them again - you just have to be a bit careful not to deselect anything when you're repositioning it. Handy for buildings that are too big or spaced out to link.
