I own 'roadside' land in one of the newer continents and have for a few months now.

The catch? The path exists, but no actual paved road passes through our sim.

This isn't really new.

What i DID recently notice though, was that a sim owner two sims south of where I am has actually taken it upon herself to pave OVER that protected land and has done it quite well. What I can't really tell is just *how* she did it. Is she hanging prims off her land on to the road? And if so, how does one do this precisely? Also, is this advisable to do, considering it doesn't look like LL will resume paving any time soon?

yup, depending on how big the gap is, you can pathcut a cube, texture it, and position it right next to the protected land, other options would be to use a root prim that's to one side, and have the child prim overhange the easment, and textured as a road

completely up to you, it might get returned at any time if someone complains, or if a linden strolls trough, or they actually build a road... I doubt LL will do anything nasty to you for trying to beautify the area, many people have built pedestrian bridges this way
