Hiya
I noticed that it is impossible to link prims that are too far away from eachother. How can I link my entire house and keep a copy in my inventory? Is this possible somehow? I'd like to keep an easily rezzable copy for myself! Thanks for advice or links or any info.

Firstly Link sections of the house, ie back, sides and front, roof base etc.
Once you have linked all the separate pieces hold shift and keep shift down then click each of the linked parts you previously creatyed, they will all highlight in Blue.
Its a good idea to open the general tab in the edit menu, once you have clicked all the linked part look in the general tab and you will see so many objectts and total prims.
Then right click and take copy, it will then appear in the object folder with a box resembling lots of little boxes on top of each other.
rex it b4 deleting on land to make sure its all there but be careful when you move it, one false click and it will fall back into the separate linked parts.
If you don't have enough land to rez b4 deleting the other let me know here I can give you an alternative.

normally unless its an unusually massive ie more then 2048sqm in plot size, you should be able to make it into 6-8 linked pieces, 1 back, 1 side, etc etc

Thanks I will try it. (No I don`t plan on moving or deleting anything, I just want to keep a copy.) I will rezz the copy in a sandbox to try it. EDIT: successfully rezzed full house in sandbox. Thank you very much

Some additions:
1. When rezzing multipart inventory objects, which you plan to move afterwards, be sure to have the edit panel open (ctrl-3) BEFORE rezzing. It will auomatically select the whole rezzed structure, so you don't have to do that by hand.
2. When distributing structures consisting of multiple objects, it's oftwn wise to use any of the automatic rezzer systems available nowadays. (search for rez-foo, rez-faux etc.). They'll allow scripted rezzing/moving/rotating of a large structure by handling one specific conroller prim. For more experienced builders it's often easier to manipulate structures as single selections, but for less experienced people, these could make a big difference.
On linking larger objects:
1. Link distance is based on a calculation which takes both size and distance of the individual prims into account. So when trying to link a structure, a single small prim can make a link fail.
2. Watch out with linked larger structures and rotations. If your structure is aligned on a straight angle (0,90,180,270) and you rotate it to any other angle, link distance is recalculated based on the -global coordinate system-. This can break link sets which were fine before the rotation. Often the breaking happens on manipulating prims in the set again or a sim restart.
