Take a deep breath hon. Here goes. You have to unlink the prims from the house, preferably WITHOUT unlinking the whole house. Then you can delete them.
First, make sure you have a copy of the house in inventory.
Edit the section of the house the prims are in. See it highlights? Notice which prim is highlighted in yellow. That is the root prim. If you want to delete that one, think again ... you would have to relink the whole house, ew.
So. You have the house section in edit. Check the "Edit Linked Parts" box. Now, select one of the prims you want to delete. Make SURE only that prim is selected (highllighted). Now go up to the tools menu and choose Unlink. That prim, and only that prim, should unlink from the whole.
If you want to be really safe, now exit edit, then reselect the prim, and delete it.
Select the house section again ... notice it's still all linked together ... and keep doing this until all the spare prims are trimmed off. You can actually select the prims one after another, in fact you may be able to select a group of them (I forget), and unlink them without leaving edit ... but you have to be very careful.
Personally, I like to keep a few spare parts that have textures that match the house, so I usually take a few spare parts into inventory, being sure to name them carefully so I can find them.
Another caution: I only do this sort of thing when the grid seems stable and packet loss is very low. Off-peak times are best.

Thanks so much! I was able to free over 20 prim! from the house and some furnater. I took some prim off the back of the couches. they are agienst the wall and you will never know they are gone. I have only a 512 lot. So with only 117 available, getting 20 free was a big deal. The "unlink" part was not where I expected it. I keep looking thru all the tabs in the edit window. Again thanks for the help!

Yvw! Btw, Ivory Tower of Prims has a really excellent notecard on linking as part of their self-guided tutorials on building. Check it out!

Yes you can, but you have to relink the whole thing ... it will all unlink as soon as the root is unlinked. Best to do someplace where there's not a lot around ... in the sky, with select distance short. Then you can do it quickly just by selecting the whole thing at once. If you know how many prims it had initially, there's no big risk, it's just something to be careful about.
The root prim is always the last one linked. This can be a bit tricky with scripted parts.

If you unlink the root prim, then normally the system will automatically/somehow select another prim to become root. This can be interesting if it selects a prim with a script in it...
Sometimes a build will unlink when unlinking one or more prims, but I think that is a bug already in jira.

You can change the root prim by unlinking the whole house, then deselecting the desired root prim, then reselecting the desired root prim, and re-linking the house together. The house will take on the name of the new root prim. Assuming it's mod, you can change the name.
