I searched but could not find my question addressed, so I'll ask -- Is it possible to reshape SL's default avatars in a modeling program and then upload for use in SL? If it is possible, how do I upload and apply the altered avatar shape?
Thanks!

The short answer is no.
The longer answer is that people use the sliders at zeros and hide the body shape with either prims or invisiprims. Look in your inventory at some of the tiny avatars. A 'meatball' animation is also used it you want to cover the avatar totally and not have regular arms and legs.

Thanks for the answer. I was interested in subtle tweaks on the face shape that I wasn't able to get with the provided appearance tools. I'll just work with what's given.
