Thanks in Advance to anyone who responds. I can't figure out how to make a necklace chain, the kind without chain links. It would be a long thin strip that curves...Anyone want to give me any pointers?

As a texture on a clothing item? That is how I usually see it done.

hmmm,..it looks more like a prim or actually three prims connected to form a necklace. I just can't figure out how to get the prims in a long skinny line shape ???

Probably sections of a torus then. Check the 'tiny prims' sticky article for tricks on how to make most prim shapes thinner.

However, you'll find the jewelry will fit more people if you leave the chain as a clothing item, and make the ornaments on the chain as prim attachments. A chain made of prims will only fit one body shape and size.

Gosh - do not tell my customers that :) I think my chains fit most people pretty well - at least that what they all tell me :p

I sell and give away prim necklace chains and they fit a variety of body shapes and sizes, but of course a little adjustment is required for many wearers. I leave them modifiable so that the user can resize them, though that's usually not necessary.

Yes, the kind of neckace you're talking about is made up of a string of torus sections. It's a bit of a trick to align them properly, but once you get one right you'll use it for a lot of different pieces, and using different textures.

Clothing-based necklaces have the advantages that they always lie right on the skin, and they don't lag the sim. Prim based ones are nice in that they're 3D, but you have to look pretty close for that to matter.

You need to twist 4 thoruses. One for the back, one for the front and 2 for the down curves. I think I have a notecard with the specs, but I'm not inworld. If interested, IM me inworld later today and I'll give you a copy.
