If you script in LSL, you've probably used the wiki, formerly at badgeometry.com, now an official Linden site at http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=HomePage - and if you haven't you really should. I think it's time we created a wiki for SL building techniques. There are a lot of building patterns and techniques that could be captured, and having them in one place would make learning to build so much easier. Lumiere Noir and Jopsy Pendragon's in-world tutorials are excellent, but that in-world style of documentation takes a lot more effort than writing up a page in a wiki, and is very difficult to do well. But the two approaches could be complementary, with landmark references in the wiki to in-world tutorials and examples. We could just start adding pages on building to the LSL Wiki, but I don't think that's the best approach. Perhaps we could get LL to create a second wiki for building, or we could start on an independent server somewhere and cobble it together ourselves, and when it's mature enough migrate to a LL server. I guess eventually we could have separate wikis for texturing, animation, avatar creation, etc., or those topics could just be lumped together in the building wiki too. What do people think about this? Anyone interested in contributing?

I think that's a good idea. Let me know if I can help you. If you can, try to find someone who knows their geometry and trigonometry (ideally someone who can explain the concepts to us dummies), as this is useful in making shapes fit neatly. could always mooch space from the support wiki.

https://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=HomePageI assume anyone can update this. If so, it should suit your needs. Under Guides, there's already an empty Object Building section.

Well, I'm not a fan of TikiWiki. It's very difficult to use, especially the registration/login system. And I'd rather have another wiki that used the same engine as the BadGeometry scripting wiki does, rather than have people have to learn two different wikis. Besides, the support wiki seems to be pretty much ignored and no one contributes to it, and I'd prefer something that was independent of that inertia. Does anyone have a place we can set up a WakkaWiki wiki? Or can we just hang some building pages off of the scripting wiki? I thought that was a bad idea initially, but now I don't know. What do people think about that?
