I know that once you link a flexi prim to non-flexi objects, the entire item becomes phantom. That said, I created a gazebo and attached a flexi valance...and the entire gazebo did not turn phantom (only the flexi prims).
Yes, you read that right. It DID not turn the entire gazebo phantom. You cannot walk through it, fly through and for all practical purposes it acts normal...save for the attached flexi prims.
I have rezzed it on other locations, had others test it....alas, it is a conundrum
I'm at a lost. I'd love to do it again...but it is not to be.
Anyone have any ideas, or have experienced this?
Best,
~Ari

Heya :J Yeah, I’ve experienced something similar. Linked some flexi items to a non-phantom item and it stayed non-phantom. When I reloged the previously flexi items where no longer flexi. I think this is just a bug where the client doesn’t see the flexi turn off.

Thank you kindly for your responses. No, not on a sim border. That was my first thought as well, but I rezzed it in 2 other places and the same thing. Hhhhmmm....there are 8 flexi prims total out of 18. Not sure which is the main prim..and I'd check, but wouldntchya know it, the grid is down If it is a bug...I wish I could re-create it! It could be a useful little bugger. Best, ~Ari

I've had it happen now and again. Haven't figured out how to reliably repeat it.
The flexis remained flexi and the non-phantom prims remained solid after being taken into inventory and re-rezzed.

How to link flexi to Solid
10-28-2006 23:51
Their is a trick to link flexi to solid. You make the part that will be flexi then check the flexible path check box, ***do not turn it phantom first***. Let the program turn it phantom then you can link them to solid prims. However this dosen't work for vehicles that turn physical(from hard experience).

There is no trick, select prims and link. That is all. Just one condition is that it cannot be physical.

That is the usual way of going about it...I have never told it to turn phantom because it does that on it's own and saves me a step. However, the little bug discussed in the OP is showing up when it feels like it and not on my whim, so I will ignore it if does come back. Best, ~Ari
