I recently completed my project of building a house, hoping I may be able to sell copies of it. However, it appears that somewhere along the line it has become 'No Copy' and I don't understand why. I have double-checked all the textures I have used and they are all copiable; also every part of the building is my own work...... so is it something I am doing wrong? Rapidly tearing my hair out!

Ahh. I once had a very similiar, very frusterating issue, a while ago. I had used a no-copy texture on the foundation just to test it out... AND then made my own more appropriate texture, and lo and behold, even though I had replaced the other person's texture entirely, it still wouldn't get the permissions right... All it knew was, "At one point I was using a no-copy texture, so no-copy I shall be! "
![]() ![]() I would recommend selecting your house piece-by-piece with edit and shift-clicking on each piece, and checking the permissions every single time - as soon as you get to the "corrupted" piece (you'll know because you'll no longer have full permissions on your group of objects in the edit tab), shift-click it again to un-select it. Using this process you can "Weed out" and pieces that may have the incorrect permissions... And then, unfortunately the only "fix" I know is to rebuild any pieces that don't have the correct permissions... Good luck. _____________________

When you use no-copy textures, they go into the contents of the object your used them on, therefore making the object no copy. If you then change the texture, the no copy texture remains in the contents. You'll need to find the peice(s) you used it on, and delete it. Then it should become copiable..

I have found that the offender is usually a 'no copy' texture that has gotten into the contents folder of one of the prims.
You have to check each contents folder one by one, and delete the offender! _____________________

may save yourself some trouble by checking the properties in your inventory of the textures used

scripts?

And if you used any scripts within the building of a house, maybe like a door script, and it was from another creator maybe thats what it was. Maybe that script is also no-copy. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Toy.... yes its easy enough to check the textures I have in use now, but I think there were some I used initially and had to change because they were No Copy. Seems its these that may be causing the problem. So far I have found one No Copy texture in the 'contents' of a prim, and replaced the prim as Logan suggested. Still no joy, so the search continues....
Digital, there are scripted doors, but they are obviously not linked in to the main build, so I don't think they are the problem; thanks for the suggestion, though. ![]() _____________________

Here are the less obvious ones to check:

LOL! Thanks for the advice, Introvert.... knew I shouldn't have started this building lark! Especially living in the corner of a sim, it seems....

LOL I ran into this on my house, Raven Keep, which is no-copy no-transfer. Thanks go to Kushiel, my builder and friend.
I can change any texture on the house, but since she used her own custom ones, I can't replace them if I decide the original was best. Of course, for that I can just call her up and ask for help. The big issue comes from the floor in front of my fireplace. somehow, that one piece is no modify, so I can change every texture but the one on it. Of course, it's all one object now so I can't remove the offending floor. Which means I can't change the other half of the floor, either, because it would look halfassed. I advise for building to use only textures you load yourself or can duplicate. Otherwise you end up in no-copy hell! |

sounds like a need for a purge command to remove textures from the object file that are no longer attatched to anything. would certainly make more sense then having to rebuild the object if such a thing were/could be, made available.
