I have been creating plenty of great sculpties with ROKURO (amazing program) but I am hitting a wall with texturing these prims. Is there a program and method that will allow me to view my texture map onto a sculpted prim before uploading into SL?

If you've already uploaded your sculpt texture to SL you could use your parcel media to preview a texture using the method I detail here:

There are some previewers listed in the wiki http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims:_3d_Software_Guide
I believe that wings3d can be used to import and edit your sculpt. |

Destiny's suggestion of Wings is the best freebie approach. I'm considering doing a texturing tool for sculpties, sort of like I did with slcp, but if I decide to make this it'll be a few months off.

Not everything is in place for Wings to readily support viewing textures on sculpties created by ROKURO. Wings is capable of importing the bitmap produced by ROKURO, so it can act as a previewer of the sculpty model. But the problem is going to be getting an appropriate UV map into Wings, so you can also preview your texture on the model. Although possible, I can't tell you exactly how to do this, because I can't do it reproducibly.
I'm working on having the importer automatically create the UV map, but that won't be in the next release of the Wings plugin, which I intend to release in the next day or so. |

If I remember right, the XNA based previewer listed on the wiki supports viewing textures on your scuplties.

I can not use XNA based previewer.
It close down right after double click the exe file. I'm using Japanese version of windows XP sp2 and installed XNA frameworks. Am I the only one having this problem? |

Is there a program and method that will allow me to view my texture map onto a sculpted prim before uploading into SL? 1) Import your image with File/ImportImage 2) Import your sculpt map with File/Import/Second Life Sculpty 3) Open the Outliner window with Window/Outliner 4) In the Outliner window, first select the line for your texture and then drag it onto the line for the default material. In response to the prompt, select Diffuse. |
