How do I make the ending curl shape like the pic i have attached? I have tried many different ways with a torus, I got something similar but they all look a bit dispoportionate.

Thank you!

One approach would be to use a sculpty.

Another would be to use two prims, one for the final 360 degree revolution (or maybe less, like 270) and another for the tubular part leading into it. Get the ends matched up perfectly, and it might look good.

Another...go find a prim builder and see if this shape is there.

The picture is very low-contrast, I can't tell whether the cross-section of it is a rectangle or rounded ... but I do use a curve like that with, I think, a rectangular cross-section as a decoration on one of my lamps. If you send me an IM inworld, I'll send you the shape. (next time i'm logged in).

Thanks for the replies, here is a better pic of one of the examples I've seen it at. Anyone?

Nika, I will send you an IM soon. :)

It's just a couple of cut & tapered toruses. Do this:

1. Taper a torus all the way on both X and Y, and it will come to a point on one end. Cut it a bit, so that the untapered end doesn't touch the point.

2. Do the same thing to a second, slightly larger torus, but don't taper it all the way. Taper it just enough so that its tapered end is the same size as the untapered end of the first torus.

3. Cut the second torus in half, line the two up, and link them together.

4. Duplicate the link set, and stick a copy on each end of an upright cylinder.

That's it. It's a 5-minute job, much easier than you probably thought it would be.
