We are looking a t a 4096 sq m block that is quite steep. This pleases us for escetic reasons but I was wonder ing if there are specific reasons why we would be wary of building on a steep surface?

Only thing you should really be aware of that I can think of is that prims stuck too far through the ground have a nasty tendency to poof into thin air. They do go back to your lost and found when they go 'offworld' but still its annoying. (Like when a Linden makes an alteration to the terrain around a nearby telehub and manages to return all the prims from one end of your build. Thanks for that, btw, Lindens! ) But building with the terrain is a much more challenging but ultimately rewarding experience. Certainly it takes more imagination and skill than simply flattening the crap outta your plot to build!

I'm another fan of steep land, starting with my First Land plot. The majority of what we own is hilly in some form, and some of it is very steep. I like letting the shape of the land influence what I put on it. I've never had any trouble building on it, and it helps for building things like caves or hidden rooms.

The first land I actually thought of "buying" in SL was an 8192 in Arches that was 300m from the lowest to the highest point. I was going to put a zeppelin base there, but the price was as steep as the land and I had to pass...

Steep land can have builds that look really cool. My place in Spinach, Bloodmoor Castle, was built by Kelindra Talamasca and I think is a good illustration of what you can do with a slope. I wouldn't advise a slope for a first time build but once you know what you are doing you can make something that doesn't look ordinary and isn't at all like the "rice paddy" look somebody above mentioned
