Builders building for free

If you look up the group SL Builders Assoc. which I am the founder of, you will find out that we build for free. If you need anything built let us know and we'll do our best to build what you want. Or you can join our group. Thanks and we take request in game or on this thread.

What more do you do for free? Shopping and giving away?

Ok in fact I cant decide if its a good thing or a very bad one... but there are prefab that live on it sales.. and other builders that need to get some money out from what they do...

(I have built one house dont worry)

It is survival of the fittest.

For us COMMERCIAL builder, we have to deliver in speed and quality, and hey, it is probably gonna be worth the price we charge.

For me, I build on pure speed. Some clients hire me just for that reason, *shrug* and hey, least they like the builds

I would llike to learn more about your free building and joining of the group ... I think it a great start for those in SL who struggle.. and there is many. Ppl will always buy from others who rely on the money ... there is many aspects of ppl here in SL and for some it is difficult without having some kind of knowledge or skill. I really think there is too many ppl here in SL who are over board on the secrets they have or what will they might lose ..
They aren't losing anything .... life still goes on for those who can turn over items all the time with ease .. and ppl always looking for new stuff to purchase ...

I guess I see this as not being much different then Sl allowing us all to buy first land.... for so cheap... does this take away from those who have private land for sale??? Everyone seemed to be greatful they could get their first land at the bargain price of 512L$ with no complaints .... I am glad to see something for nothing finally.... SL has become all about money ... and it is very intimidating to new comers... to the point they stay or go... no in between.
I myself am willing to learn more... so I can give back to this community also ... return the favors and help the few have been willing to share .... there is many in Sl who have designed prefabs.. me included ..... I have seen outrageous pricings since I joined SL .. on prefabs too.. ranging from the crazy freebies we all get to prefabs costing 5000L$
I know the work involved in designing a prefab.... I would rather sell 10 prefabs ... at 500L$ the hang on to my hat in hopes someone would by one... at 5000L$
Guess we all see things differently... that good old $ sign ... we are really greater in number.. as the saying goes.. quality plays a big role but so does quantity .. that is where you will make the most money ...
I think this chance to have something free ... might encourage the less skilled to join and learn how it's done... this in turn could make SL a stronger community with more giving back... and or contributing
and will cause the economy of the game .... to grow faster
thank you to all those out there who have generously given... there time and help and knowledge in helping me do some growing also here in SL ...
I hope this idea works well Dylan... and we can look at it again in a few months to see what has evolved from it...
Again as always .. this is just my opinion ... so plz do not take offence that isn't intended here... to any of you who read the forums...there is no mud to sling.. just honest thoughts...

To those who have a problem with this idea-
It doesn't cost us money to build, and if we want to help our fellow players that are struggling then we can and we will. Some of us are here to have fun (Namely for me building) not for money. What is the point of making this exactly like rl? And just because we don't charge money DOESN'T mean we don't build as high quality or better than those who charge outrageous rates. If you have a problem with this feel free to take them up with me. I am going into game now and checking with the Linden staff just to make sure it is completely allowed...Which we already know is.

Sorry if I offended anyone but we all have freedom to choose whether we charge for our items or not. I make signatures for another message board and guess what we don't charge money. We do it because we enjoy doing them and like seeing our work displayed.

Hi Dylan, as my post count will attribute I'm very new to SL, I wanted to ask you about the kind of stuff you build but you weren't online when I checked your name so I came back to this thread, do you just mean buildings and furniture or do you make clothing/body parts aswell? If you make clothing/accesories how long would it take on average for an entire outfit, head to toe? I've had great difficulty finding any clothing that looked good and was within my price range, all the really classy looking stuff has price tags in the high hundreds to thousands of L$.

At this time we are only building houses, stores, etc. Noone in our group at this time feels we can a professional enough job on making avatars/outfits. I understand fully your concerns with the lack of finding clothing in the price range of citizens just starting the game. I will put your request as a priority and as soon as one of us learn or we find a member that is willing to join us, than I will try to fulfill your request. I will let you know when we have the knowledge to assist you. Sorry I cannot be of more help at this time.

Yep Dylan, it's each individuals decision to offer their services for any cost or no cost. Fun IS what it should be about, first and foremost.

I myself am taking 'tiny baby' steps, trying to learn to build...and am doing it 'cuz I enjoy the abstract art and occasional 'functional' art i create. While making a few L's might be a huge ego boost someday, that is NOT my main goal or it would feel too much like work.
