Is it possible in SL to create a mirror that shows a mirror image of whoever is looking in it?

I've seen people make "mirrors" but you have to sit at the mirror to "look into it," and what it really does is moves your avatar so it's sitting behind the mirror and change the camera angle so you're looking into it. It's a cool effect but not a "real" mirror. I don't know if it's possible to do what you're talking about... I've seen reflective flooring in buildings but no doubt that's different too.

For real reflections the 3D-Engine of SL must be changed unfortunately. I don't think this will happen in the near future.
The reflective floors are a trick. You can see a IMHO very impressive example in the streets of Devils Moon. The reflective areas are actualy transparent, and below the floor the whole area including buildings, textures and everything are build another time, just mirrored now. That's why you can see reflection of everything except avatars.

You could use copybot-derived technology to do this by temprezzing objects "facing" the mirrorbot. It would probably mean that your "mirror" would be slow, work for only a single individual at a time, and cause a lot of, uh, comments.

That's what I was afraid of. It was a wishful thought, though.

Short answer: No. Any reflections you seem to see in SL are a trick of some sort, using mirrored prims or getting you to sit and changing your camera view so you see yourself through the back of the mirror frame. No method shows an accurate reflection of everything in the room.
