I don't now very much about either Flexi or Sculpties so I am bowing to the great and wise builders here. Can Sculpties be made flexible?

Simple answer: no.
Complicated answer: If you really, really wanted to, you could make a sculpty appear to flex by using two or more different sculpt maps, and flipping between them via script, or possibly by animating a single sculpt map. It wouldn't respond to wind or movement the way a real flexi does, but it could still be convincing.

I bow to your greatness Chosen. It was just one of those odd questions that pops into my mind at odd moments of the day or night and I have not really seen discussed recently. Thank you!

This does seem to be one of the features people commonly say they would like implemented into sculpties someday. I often attend Qarl Linden's meetings and it certainly comes up from time to time. Maybe, someday, the answer to that question will be different.
Speaking of which I missed the meeting today. ZoneAlarm was acting up.
EDIT — OH, actually, an important note is that if you work at coding it correctly, you CAN have your structure's behavior correspond to wind direction, using llWind to detect the current wind direction at any given location relative to your object.
