Importing OBJ Models From Other Programs?

I'm new to Second Life, but I've been modeling for 4 years now in Bryce, Poser, Amapi and several other prim-based modeling programs. (I'm reasonably good at making props, robots, and plants -- just don't ask me to model people or critters)

I'm finding SL building "ïnterface" a bit clunky and frustrating, especially when the Internet is having traffic problems, compared to the programs I've been using.

I"v looked around here and found references to Blender and was wondering if it were possible to export complex models from, say, Amapi, as OBJ's or 3DS's (that is not prim-based models) and import them into Second Life.

Of course, I could just suck it up and learn to make objects in SL, but.... :p

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, but SL can't import .obj files. It has no support for mesh objects, other than the avatar, and only supports the default avatar.
