Hello and welcome, Clauss!
Yes, in your inventory, where it says "Search", type in "Popgun". That's the basic weapon.
You can certainly create weapons in Second Life--all types. I'd recommend exploring around the world to get a better feel of what Residents have already and magnificently accomplished. I'll move this to the Building forum too, in case you have further questions.

Clauss, to build a weapon you need to be able to do 2 things.
Building and scripting
Building for the design Scripting for making the gun shoot it's bullets
any weapon script only shoots a predesignated object, so the bullet needs to be inside your weapon, in the content tab, including the script to shoot it of course.
the best thing you can do is use the scripting of your popgun and put it into your newly made weapon model.

Clauss, apparently you think it's all fun and games, and that Second Life is all about weapons.
I, personally, have no care for weapons on Second Life. Weapons ruin it.
Just for you information, you need to not be a noob to make one.

Hey, the last thing we need is people discouraging content creators. So what if he wants to make a weapon? It beats having him stand around in the streets naked begging for money. Let the guy try to earn a living on his own. I applaud his efforts.
Besides, griefing is something a player initiates, not an object. Even if there were no weapons, the griefers would still find ways to make our lives hell. By showing yourself to be intolerant of how other people choose to enjoy their Second Life (as long as that enjoyment doesn't come at the cost of someone elses), you make yourself a more likely target for a griefer.

Clauss? Some friendly advice. Second Life does have weapons, yes, and there are a few respectable places to use them. But in most of Second Life, if you shoot anything that moves, like in some first person shooter game like Unreal Tournament, most of the people you shoot will get really mad, and will abuse report you and do their level best to get you kicked out of Second Life. A lot of new people like you come here and think SL is a shoot-em-up game. It is not, and you'll really get people mad at you if you treat it like one.
The safe places to play with weapons are the sims named Jesse and Rausch. Those are designated combat sims, and weapons play is encouraged there. Teleport to those sims, and you're likely to have someone shooting at you before you can see clearly. Have fun, if that is your idea of fun. SL also has a few other places that are designated weapons testing sandboxes or combat arenas.
HOWEVER - If you don't see clear indications that you are in a weapons approved area, you would be wise to act like you were in downtown Washington DC or London, with a cop following you, and keep the weapons in your inventory, unused.
