Sorry for creating a new post but there are so many I am confused where to start. I am looking for tutorials for Blender that are for a complete noob to 3d modeling. I want the emphasis to be on sculpty creation for SL. Can someone point me in the right direction please? I tried the video tutorial in a recent post on this board but it was still too advanced for me since I had issues even selecting vertices to manipulate a sphere. - Thanks

I might start on this page.
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Tutorial_Links_List Near the top is the parts on the interface- getting to know it. Do some examples, watch some vids, then you can dive in. Blender Underground has some superb vids too. (on that page) If you can hook up a second monitor somehow, it would be most helpful, to watch and do without all that switching windows thing. _____________________

Thanks! I'll check those out. Unfortunately I am still behind the times and only using a single monitor, but I am a pro at the back and forth switching.

I have to warn you though...because I somehow missed it...when using the blender underground tutorials, they start out teaching you how to create with polygons. As of yet I haven't found a way to get those into SL and instead learned you have to use nurbs or meshes. The meshes seem to react the same way the polys do though so it shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Ideally I would like to use those 2 video tutorials in the other thread because they seem to be geared just for sculpty creation, but at the moment I am stuck on the first tutorial unable to select the vertices to manipulate the sphere as instructed in them.

All the tuts a very good at showing you how to use blender in general. That is the best place to start for a beginner.
Learn to crawl etc.... Once you get the hang of using blender you will find sculpties (and Blender) easy. Especially using Dominos forum help, scripts and guides. _____________________

Hi!
I have a series of tutorials available called B2SL or Blender to Second Life, the first is geared towards absolute beginners to Blender. I have found the making sculpties for SL is actually a great way to get into Blender, as opposed to sifting through the tons of tutorials that are out there, mine focuses on what you need to know for sculpties. I wrote the first one a while ago, before Domino's scripts were solidified so it uses a sculpt material to bake the maps. I have decided to keep it this way because it represents a nice learning curve into the second tutorial on materials, besides other tutorials are available that expain Domino's stuff (even some written by him lol). (I use Domino's scripts all the time now btw. for all my sculpts as they are an incredible time saver) Part 1 is available on the web, and in world at the location in my signature for this forum it covers It covers how to use Blender basics and walks through sculpting from zero to sculpt map. On my website it starts here: http://www.in2orbit.net/index.php?id=89 look on the lower left side for the step by step sections. Part 2 is only available in world at this time as covers the basics of materials in Blender Part 3 is only inworld also, and covers Sculpt mode and texture painting. As always I am available for questions via IM, here or in many of the inworld sculpty groups. -whyroc _____________________
