I see them all the time in SL. How are they done?
I've spent a half hour searching forums. A half hour experimenting. I've even bought some stuff using these hoping to glean some insight. but they're locked down.
I give. Time to call in for backup.
Thanks.

Create a cube, apply a transparent texture to all sides but one, resize the cube as appropriate. When seen from the "outside" the texture will be visible, but from any other angle the cube won't be visible.

I'm not sure what you mean by "two way mirror" since reflections don't exist in SL, but one way windows are easy:
1. Make a cube.
2. On the editor window, click "More" to expose all options. Check "Select Texture". This will allow you to select individual faces of the cube.
3. Click on one face of the cube to select it, and then go to the texture tab on the editor. Now either choose a transparent texture for the face, or else use the transparency setting on the editor to make the face itself see-through.
That's all there is to it. You've now got a cube that you can see through from only one direction.

Thank you/I'm sorry I still can't find it. How do I apply a texture to just one side?

I don't see anything that allows me to place different textures on each face. I've already tried grouping/linking a tranaparent cube next to a textured cube but that didn't work. Here are the controls that I see... "Texture" which opens a dialogue with a preview pane and a browse pane, "default", "blank", and "none" buttons and an "apply immediately" check box "Color" which opens a color picker. Next I have a "transparency" number box (1 - 90) control. "Shininess" and "bumpiness" combo boxes A "full bright" checkbox. Then, (here's what I might not understand fully)... "Repeats per Face" "Horizontal " - a number box (0.000 - 1.000) followed by a Flip checkbox is here. "Vertical (Y)" - a number box (0.000 - 1.000) followed by a Flip checkbox is here. There is then a Rotation number box a "Repeats per Meter" number box an "Apply" button and an "Align media texture (must load first)" "Align" button.

It's the radio button, about 4th down near the top of the edit panel labelled, "Select Texture." Click that radio button, then, click the prim-face you want to change. Once you do that, any change made under the "texture" tab will apply to that particular face only.
You may also shift-select multiple faces using the "Select Texture" radio button.
