I am in the process of creating my first flexi outfit.

I have entered, on the Object tab:

Shape: Cylinder

X-size: 0.729
Y-size: 0.603
Z-size: 0.922

Path cut B: 0.299
Path cut E: 0.899

Hollow: 95

Taper B: -0.99
Taper E: -1.00

To get my flexi skirt to appear like this:

...how do I make the diagonal hemline on the bottom of each section? Would I have to enter some numbers somewhere to make a diagonal cut?

That's a lovely dress! I wish I owned it in RL. :D I have tried to create a hemline like that several times myself and have never been satisfied with the result. The multi-panel construction of a prim skirt leaves me with a design that looks way too harsh and mechanical, compared to the look of the RL dress I'm trying to model it after. I really wish I had an answer for you. If you figure it out, though, PLEASE post it back here. I would LOVE to know how to get this effect.

I'm sure someone has answers somehow. And I'm glad you find that dress very appealing.

Once it's created, I will make so many Pyrite Sopwith creations in the coming months and see if I can sell them for lindens.

I'm trying to take a stab at doing the prims. I have created the half cylinder object yesterday (as I stated previously), and now I am creating a hollow triangular prim. I already did make the triangular prim look thin; so to make the triangular prim look rounded (just like the cylinder prim), how do I do this? What code would I have to install to make the triangular prim look rounded on the exterior?

you can't, round prims are round, other prims are square, sharp edged. if it wasn't flexi you just add two prims together. you'll just have to play with the sphere, torus etc and see how close you can get to the shape, you could try stretching them so that only the bottom part shows and the top is hidden under other layers?

I've tried some of those ideas off and on over the past year, as I have come back several times to poke at this challenge. No luck so far. As you say, Dekka, a good part of the problem comes from flexiness. You can certainly link a bunch of torii and cut cylinders to get a fairly decent dress shape, but the only prims that can be flexi are the ones at the hem. The rest of the dress looks stiff, like a barrel. It's a real shame. I love this dress style in RL, but I can't see a way to make it work in SL. :(

Oh, well.... I may as well try other dress designs. I didn't even realize that a dress like the one I provided the image for could not be done in SL.

While it is difficult to get the shapes we are looking for via prims at times....you may be able to get a decent result by using cylinder prims and using an alpha texture on it to get the draping you want.

don't get discourage with this dress, part of the fun and of course, hard work in SL is trying to achieve the effects you want, sometimes just playing with some of the prims, twisting, stretching causes happy accidents and you may end up with compromise, but good enough to use for what you need, sometimes you might put a project down and 3 months later the solution appears from nowhere.
