Initally I thought that this is a lag based issue, but after debugging & building on many sims, this problem is always evident. Let be building in a crowded sandbox or me alone in a sim itself. I wonder do any builders have this problem as well.
When ever I try to shift a prim & place it in a desired position, let will automactically return back to its previous location. When I try to re-adjust it back, it will jump back to its "new location" I placed before.
Same goes for rotation as well, not to mention stretching.
I did encounter this problem very very occasionally back in 1.6, so it doesn't pose much of a problem but since 1.8 & 1.9 everything got worst.
On a few interesting occasions, when I go about rotating multiple selected prims (not linked) & translate it thereafter to its new location, the prims will retain their positions but each prim will automactically rotate themselves on EACH of THEIR OWN CENTERS, ie back to the initial pre-rotation angle! at argrhh!! it just screws up anything & delays anything you build.
It goes the same for textures too, once I apply a texture to a bunch of 50 over linked prims, later each surface will start alternating over the applied textured on & off, like as if it has a mind of its own!
Is it just me? help!

Not just you with Prim moving issues.

I experience exactly the same issues and posted a forum question about this a few days ago. Personally I am no longer enjoying building objects at all, when really the creative aspects of SL were what appealled the most to me about being here. I urge other members to add to this post so that we can get the Lindens interested in the problem.
Thanks GavinLeigh Wake

I have seen it.. in all versions.. move a prim and suddenly it are back in first place.. Move a prim and regret it and try command z... sometimes it works sometimes it stay.. same in the prfs boxes IN edit... sight* First try to quit the build by closing the edit of prims - and open the edit again..- can help... Second restart.. the software.. Why do you think your friends restart so often:: I think they have same problem and do a restart )) No its not fun.. some days I close SL.. and do something else.. /Tina

From: Gyro Maltz When ever I try to shift a prim & place it in a desired position, let will automactically return back to its previous location. When I try to re-adjust it back, it will jump back to its "new location" I placed before. Did you possibly have "edit linked prim" checked when editing the prim? I've seen some random odd behavior with that checkbox, especially when it's checked and I'm editing not one prim of a linkset, but a single prim. From: someone It goes the same for textures too, once I apply a texture to a bunch of 50 over linked prims, later each surface will start alternating over the applied textured on & off, like as if it has a mind of its own! I know that bug and it's driving me crazy. I bugreported it, and later asked Torley Linden about it - she said that it is known, and likely related to busy sims or poor network connection. I usually have a ping sim / ping user of around 250ms, so that might explain it. Have you bugreported it too?

Based off the latest bug list, apparently the funny behaviour with prims when the "edit linked" is known. From the Bug list (on the "known issues" 1st april bug list forum in case anyone missed it) /255/56/97687/1.htmlSomewhere in the middle of the rather lenghtly list (search ctrl-f searching for linked) From: someone Can't delete an object that was unlinked after selecting "Edit linked" parts
Other than that, nothing on the textures though, or could it be this? also around the middle of the bug list. From: someone Texture all sides on multi prim object fails with latencey
No bugs reported on the funny prim shift behaviour though.

By the way, using Ctrl+Z to "undo" these crazy jumps can sometimes help. For reference, Ctrl+Z works to undo any motion or rotation done by clicking and dragging the prim in Edit mode. In other words, it does NOT work for numbers typed into the boxes of the edit menu, or for colors and/or textures. (At least, it hasn't for me - if I'm wrong, please correct me. )

I really do wish that they fix this "bug" asap, building is a pain in SL now.
