Controlling resize snap-back?

ok, annoying thing... object was resized up by the drag handles (ctrl+shft) and left to sit.... later, trying to resize the same object back down to it's original size, the root prim does not resize all the way back down, and as sone as you try to do anything else, the whole things snaps back to the larger size....

no prim should be past it's limit for resizing, and certainly not the root...

so what gives and how do I control this to get it resized back to original?

It is a well-known bug that LL hasn't yet fixed. Prims in a linkset act inconsistently when you select them individually and attempt to resize them. Sometimes it will resize, and sometimes it won't. And sometines, attempting to resize a linked prim damages that prim, or another in the set, and the whole blasted set unlinks and won't re-link until the damaged prim is located and replaced! *growls*

Best work-around for re-sizing a linked prim is to select the prim and un-link it BEFORE attempting to re-size it. Then link it back up after resizing. That is fairly certain to work, and the only gotcha is that if you are very close to linking limits, or if there are damaged prims in the linkset, the resized prim might refuse to re-link to the others.

Best fix for a linkset that should link, but that refuses to ... if you have enough prims free... Select the whole linkset and drag-copy it, then delete the original (the prims you moved). The freshly copied versions of the prims should all be OK, and should re-link just fine.

If a single prim snaps back - a prim that is NOT part of a linkset, make sure that "Edit Linked Parts" is NOT checked. Having it checked screws up some functions when dealing with a single prim that isn't actually linked.

thanks Ceera, was vaguley aware of the problem with single prims in a set... in this case it was the whole set (and a misbehaving root). I never did get it to work right, but I had an older version of the same object, so just rezzed it and swapped in the new goodies.... hopefully I don't have that issue again soon =(
