If you buy land are you able to shape it in some way? Say make hills, caves, etc. If so, does anyone have a link for a good explanation of the process and what is and isn't possible with it?

Land, at the moment, can only be shaped vertically. Meaning, you can only raise or lower it using a raise/lower 'brush', but not dig caves or make it fold over itself. On the mainland areas, it can typically only go up and down 4m from its original state when it was terraformed. There are however some unique sims on the mainland that can do +-40m, but if its being sold, its very expensive to purchase. Private islands have more lattitude, up to 100m difference as I recall. An alternative is to just build your own hills and caves using prims.

Island editing capability
02-15-2006 09:31
Cottenteil is exactly correct. Generally mailand sims are limited to +/- 4M now depending on the bordering lands. An island is +/- 100 which allows for the easy creation of caves and such but this setting is controlled by the owner of the island. I just want you to understand that while YES you can edit an island +/- 100 M you should check with the owner of the island before you rent or buy land. Check out Anshe Chungs Akasha sim for some truly remarkable caves and ideas on how u can create them

There are a lot of of anshe chung results in find, and the 3 that match akasha, don't quite seem to have any caves on them.

terraform of land

Hello: To see some nice terraform and builds within, the sims of Escape and Enchanted I have been editing for what seems like until my one mouse needed recharging. Land editing is fun, although can be tricky. The tools do take some time to master. I do not mean just use, for they are intrinsic in nature and do have behavioural features that one would not know about unless you have edited land quite a bit. A general shove, up, down, or pull here and there is not what I am talking about. I am talking the reforming of two sims over a period of time to incorporate the prims that are upon, in, around, or in close proximity to its being, have had many tweaks and extra time involved to maybe bringing up that shore line a little more, to making sure the land was at exactly the same height , or even the subtle oh gee thats a cool island out there. Well that stuff does not just happen with a click of land raise, magic wand, put prims down. It occurs from very good planning, designing, and a complimentary suite of textures and prims that allow it to look and feel as a total look and feel. So thats my view on land editing. I have terraformed much land, and have on occasion used a terraform script' IE The Super Land editing Tool and really find a lot of fun it it. Feel free to ask me inworld if you so desire. Hugs, M
