Hello all,
These may be simple questions, but I’m having problems with it.
Q1. How can you have different textures on the same pime? For example, if you have a simple plane and would like to have separate textures on either side of the plane? I could put two planes together, but I know that will increase my prim count unnecessarily, isn’t it?
Q2. I exported some textures (.jpg files) in to SL. When I did it was exported in to my inventory. When I try to apply that texture to a prime and click on the texture picker, it defaults to the library folder. It does not give me a choice so I could select inventory folder instead of the library. How do I select inventory folders from the texture picker? Or is there’s another way to do this? I tried to move my files to the library folder from inventory, but don’t allow it.
Thank you in advance for your input.

1. In the edit window, near the top, look for the "select texture" radio button. With that active, you can click on individual faces of a prim and apply textures.
2. The picker dialog can be a little bit annoying. Try typing part of the name into the field up top to get at the stuff you want. You can also drag textures from your regular inventory window onto the swatch in the edit dialog, if that is easier for you.

Thanks Viktoria
2. I tried to drag the texture on to the prim. But for some reason it's not allowing it. In front of the texure name (I exported) its says No Copy No modify. Is this mean I imported them wrong?

From: Bhati Latte 2. I tried to drag the texture on to the prim. But for some reason it's not allowing it. In front of the texure name (I exported) its says No Copy No modify. Is this mean I imported them wrong? I believe that to drag a texture onto a prim, it has to have full permissions. Since you imported them, you should be able to simply change the permissions ... find the texture(s) in your inventory window (not the texture picker), right-click on them, and choose "Properties". Check off all the permission boxes (copy, modify and transfer). Textures usually are full perms. Note: you can open multiple objects Properties windows at once just by selecting all of them in inventory (ctrl or shift select) before you open Properties ... each object will show up as a separate tab. Also, when you drag a texture onto a prim, only the surface you dragged it onto is textured (not all surfaces).

For some obscure reason, all imported textures default to no mod and no copy. You have to inspect the properties on each one and check those two boxes to make them usable.
The only way to get two different textures on the same face of a prim is to use custom textures that are actually a single texture with the two areas that you wanted.
