Have you ever wanted to look outside your window and see cute fishies? How about swimming with mermaids?(well SLer's in mermaid costumes! lol kidding.... ;p). If you have ever thought about what it was like to live in an underwater community, then this is the project for you!

Our small group...which started out making a small underwater structure in Taber want to take things to the next level. We hope to take advantage of the upcoming release of SL, in which land will be put aside for themed projects.

We are looking for builders of all types to expand on our small (but exciting) underwater colony (smurf habitat...lol).

If you want to get your feet wet, come join our project, and lets take SL underwater :)

I've created a VERY simple boring site of what i personally have invisioned for this, so please by all means take a look.

Underwater Colony S-MARZ-1

Also please come by and check out what we have so far at Taber 113, 130. Or you can contact our founding members, Malaer Sunchaser, Aurelie Starseeker, Zypher Crash or Realtime Rogers in world.

I would really like to see this, but due to the below ground building limitation, its gonna be quite difficult to do... Kudos and good luck to all who participate.

I went and had a look at your structure, its wonderful!!! :) There were some ways you did things that i really liked hehe :)

For anyone concerned about how difficult it will be, yes it will, but we've found that even at the lowest depths, as long as you keep the primitives that you're using to a certain size, it is possible :) So really, the only drawback would be it will be a lil on the costly size.

Thanks for the interest so far! :)

bump!!

Just reminding everyone to take a look, and see if you want to get involved in our little project :)

And make sure to take a look at this to see if you're interested.

Otherwise come visit us at Taber 113, 130! :)

Hehe yeah they are pretty cool, they are from another game, but that game is all underwater. I just loved the way it looked, and i think it would be kind of cool to bring that to SL. However i do understand that you can't get TOO deep, cause prims tend to vanish into thin air. But at a certain level, that is deep enough (if you keep the prims at a certain size), it is possible to do :)

Maybe, with time, some more people will become interested.

In the meantime, this is the site with more pictures of that strange game hehe. I was looking for modules of underwater structures and found it.

Regarding the depth limitation: maybe the Lindens would be willing to create a sim with a different floor and water heights? It appears they've done it before. Look at Oak Grove; if the water height were the same as in Morris next door, all of Oak Grove would be entirely flooded, but as it is, Oak Grove is mostly desert. Creating a sim with a floor level like Oak Grove but with a water level like Morris could provide plenty of safe depth for underwater building.

That would be sweet if the Lindens were to make a sim based on "Water" and small islands... I think a large number of people would be very excited to see a place with a deeper sea floor. It wouldnt even have to realy be deeper, but a least it could be a mostly water Sim. As is now there is one or two with a large amount, but even still there isnt much room for large construction projects to go on under the water.

Im with you jace is a good idea if ya ask me.

That would be very sweet indeedy! hehe :) However, just to say again, until that could happen(ooh lindens is that possible? hehe), structures can be made to work underwater, with prims at a certain size.

Thankyou guys for the interest so far!! :) I took down my part in Taber (if anyone was curious), for the time being, to put my resources elsewhere, but i believe that really, if this project were to happen, we'd need the expanse of a sim to have things look the way we want them too.

Keep the interest coming!!

:)
