Ok, This may be old news but I was away up until today (more or less).
I come back and I start building, which leads to texturing and thats where the trouble begins... As I'm texturing my spaceship, parts that I had already textured start to randomly change their X/Y sizes. I keep going back and fixing them to find that other parts are randomly retexturing themselves. What is going on? Has anyone else noticed this? I just saved my ship and gave up.
FYI I'm not talking lag here, I'm quite familiar with lag undoing texture changes you made, I'm talking these textures were randomly altering to Y/X size variables that I had never even put in there.
P.S. Hope everyone had a great holiday.

It's a common bug atm. It seems to happen whenever you use the "select texture" checkbox. You just have to re-apply your texture values 4 or 5 times, sooner or later they'll stay. I know how irksome it is.
PS: don't link anything until you're sure that your textures do look like they should and stay that way (better wait 5 minutes before linking anything, sometimes they revert to old values or random values after 1-2 minutes). If it happens while you work on a linkset, all prims could be messed up at once.

it does help a little bit to unlink while texturing. even though not 100% effective. and make lots of backups.

One method that I have found that seems to work with the texture Horizontal/Vertical repeat values is to do the following:
- Enter your value into the field (say Horizontal) - Click the Veritical field, then immediately click the up or down Horizontal arrow - Then click the opposite arrow to set the value back to what you want
So far, I have found this method to cause the settings to "stick" (at least is has for me). Before using this method, I was re-entering the value 5-8 times and even then it would sometimes change once I tried to save the values by closing the Edit window.

Well at least the textures of my copied items are sticking. I'm sorry that you are having this frustration. When something like this happens I usually use the Blank texture then the real texture. That works for me.

----- I will give this method a try tonight.
My problem is when I enter a number into one of the texture faces on a linked set - with "select texture" checked, and the texture selected - it switches half the rest of the textures on the prims of that set to the number, probably one out of every 8-10 times. Silently. With a knife. In the dark. lol
This caused me to quit building before Christmas. I'm now about ready to start this GODAWFUL TEDIOUS job of trying to figure out how to texture even though THE THING NO LONGER WORKS.
If I come up with a workaround, I'll be sure to let you know. If I don't, I will just quit, and wait a while, and if they don't fix it eventually, I will just tier down and forget the whole thing.
The first step is convincing them that the problem exists, and thus far, my bug reports haven't been "traditional" enough to prove acceptable, apparently. So if anyone is experiencing what I am, please bug report it.
Cause if this doesn't get fixed, I really am just going to have to find some other way to spend my free time, cause I'm mostly here for the building fun, and to lose that permanently would be a real bummer.

I've found that if you click on a completely different prim, I usually click on one that has yet to be textured, check the select texture box, then click on the texture you want to change. This almost never causes the texture to change.
I do say almost..

Heres an easy way to recreate this for anyone affected. If these methods cause your prims to mess up please bug report this.
Below is the notecard I've written about this and is being distributed in SL. Please feel free to distribute this:
Please try the following to see if this bug effects you:
1. Rez a cube (box) 2. Shift drag a duplicate 3. Click the texture tab in the build menu 4. Change the "repeats per face" horizontal and vertical to 10.0 each 5. Shift select the other cube 6. Link 7. Click the general tab in the build menu 8. Texture will shift
1. Rez a cube (box) 2. Shift drag a duplicate 3. Click the texture tab in the build menu 4. Change the "repeats per face" horizontal and vertical to 10.0 each 5. De-select the cube 6. Select the cubes so the one with 10 repeats per face is the last selected 7. Link 8. Click the general tab in the build menu 9. Texture will shift on the cube that is not the root prim
Please IM Autumn Heyse if you can recreate this bug. It doesnt always happen for alot of people and I would like to see just how common it is. Thank you for testing it out.
