Hi,
I have built a house. But now I plan to move to another land.
I cant figure out how to select and copy all of the pieces at once or how to make my house into one copyable object?
How do I take my house with me?
I suppose it´s easy, but I just cant figure it out.
Help, anyone?
Best,
Elise

Making an copy
This will make a copy of the house in your inventory. Any no-copy items in the house, like a scripted bed, perhaps, will be taken with the inventory copy. If there are no-copy items in the selected group, you can only place it once, and must repeat this process to pick it up again. If there are no no-copy parts, then you can rez multiple copies from the one this makes in inventory.
On the Tools menu, check "Select only my objects". This will help ensure that you don't accidentally grab part of someone else's house.
Make sure the main part of the house, like the roof, is named with some sensible name, like "Elise Dream Home 1.0"
Select any part of the build, in edit mode.
Move your camera to a position above the house, so you can see all of it.
Hold down the shift key, and click on the ground beside the house, and drag. A yellow rectangle will appear, that selects all prims of yours that it covers.
Depending on where you clicked initially on the ground, you might have to do this a few times to get everything selected.
Hold down the shift key, and click on the main part of the house, to de-select it. With the shift key still down, select it again, so that main part is the last part selected.
Take a COPY into your inventory. Leave the original in place! That should make a single item in inventory, with the name of the last item that you clicked.
Set Up:
Go to the new site. If you don't have enough free prims in the parcel to rez the house at both sites (both are in the same sim), then use a sandbox area to check your inventory copy of the house.
Open the "edit" window by clicking on Build. (This will allow everything to remain selected when you place the house).
Drag the house from inventory to the new parcel. Carefully rotate and position it as needed before de-selecting any of it.
Make sure it's intact, and that you got all the pieces as planned. If not, go back to the original house and try again, or get the parts you missed.
Once you're sure you took a good copy into inventory, with all pieces intact, you can go to the original site and delete the first house.

Builder's Buddy

For builds too large to link everything together, or where you can't or don't want to link it all together (such as with doors and phantom objects )you can use this Builder's Buddy script tool (by Newfie Pendragon) to package the house/object in one box, that will then rez and positions all of its various parts on command. /54/2b/96792/1.htmlThis tool is so easy to use its amazing. It takes more time to type out the explanation then to actually use it. 1. Link the house together into logical groups. Double check to make sure you didnt miss any prims. 2. Add the Builder's Buddy component script to each linked group (object). You can even include furniture, docks, or any of the copy/mod objects you own within 100 meters of the installation box. 3. Rez a new box on the ground in a logical location, such as on the lowest floor level in the middle of the house or at the front door, as long as its within 100 meters of everything you want it to install. This will be the "Installation Box", name it, do not rotate it, the installation box rotations all need to be zero. 4. Install the Base Script in the "Installation Box". 5. Type /12345 RECORD The component scripts record the location of the object they belong to relative to the Installation Box. They will each report in green chat that this has been done. 6. Take a copy of each object into your inventory. I perfer to "Take a copy" because that sends every object into your objects folder where you can easily find it. If you simply "Take" each object, some may return to the last folder they were at in your inventory, making it harder to find them all. 7. Put all of these objects in the "Installation Box". 8. Take the "Installation Box". Into your inventory. Before deleting the house and installation box that are in world, take the "Installation Box" to a new location, sandbox, or way up into the air and test rez the house to make sure you didnt miss a few pieces of it someplace. Do this more then 100 meters away from the original house location, because the Component Scripts in the original house will respond to commands given to your installation box if they are within 100 meters. 9. If the new "Installation Box" rezzes your house properly and is complete, then you can delete the original house, knowing that you can rez a new one any time you want from the installation box that is in your inventory. Enjoy and send Newie Pendragon a big thank you for this free tool.
