Problems Unsetting the Object's Group and Missing Creators

I'm having a few odd problems with groups and creators and hope someone can help me fix things. I made an object while a member of a group, but I don't want that object to be set to that group. I thought it would be no problem to fix - just rez the object, set the group to none and take it or take a copy. That doesn't work, however - when I rez the object or the copy again from inventory, it is once again set to that group. What do I need to do to fix this?

My second problem is more of an annoyance than anything else. When I check an object's properties while it is in inventory, half the time I get a creator of "nobody". This is for both items I have made and ones I have not. The correct creator shows up when I rez the object, but sometimes it's not convenient to pull out a 10 meter cube in a small space.


Edited because I figured out that I was still in the wrong group somehow when I was rezzing the objects. Maybe it is time for a nap. I still don't get the second one though.
