I am trying to make my first tattoo. I downloaded the image and tried to apply it to an undershirt and it took up the whole thing. I reduced the size of the image and downloaded it again and now it takes up the whole thing and its blurry.
How do I make it so the image is the correct size and where I want it to be placed?
Also, how do I get the undershirt to be transparent so you only see the image?
Any help is appreciated, Ferret

Ferret this is a question for Texture Tips, you need to look at posts regarding the use of the clothes templates and alpha channels, that will answer all your questions.

Basically you need to make the tattoo texture in the right place on the image, as an alpha texture, (so theres a small tattoo image on a transparent background), and make the texture so the image is in the right possition in relation to the body parts you want it on. Sounds complicated and I still only dabble with it myself, but below is a link to some tutotials on making clothes and tattoos, as well as using the avatar templates for possitioning. It also has links to DL the needed tamplates, and simpler versions are also available on the SL web site. Hope this helps some, if not, I am sure someone with better skills than me will comment here soon.

well Ferret I didn't see a post in textures so I'll answer you real fast here and then I'd suggest you do what the person above me mentioned and check out some of the texture stickies. It sounds to me like you're uploading your tattoo image cropped to display just the tattoo. What this means is that SL has no idea that this is for a piece of clothing and that you want it to be a specific size. SL expects that you'd slap this on a prim and adjust it there. To actually get your tattoo to the right size you'll need to have it on a much bigger field and a field that lines up with the body. There are templates you can download that have the body shape on them for just such a thing as you're trying to do. When you're done with the template you'll find that your tattoo takes up a very small part of the whole image size. To try and clarify that a bit easier say you're uploading a 32x32 image. Well there is nothing to tell SL where to put that image on a shirt so it fills the whole thing. When you use the template it will fit because the template is made to tell SL where stuff in it goes When you're done you'll see your little 32x32 image on a much bigger and empty 512x512 image. Good Luck
