HI, pretty new to second life, only been at it a few months!
i have the latest version of wings 3d, and everytime i try to export something, it tells me that the mesh size is unsupported
i made a simple cube and tried export it, but it didnt work...
i have the plugin and the latest version of wings 3d
i have tried blender, and the interface is a little annoying
but all im trying to do is make a katana
i can do it in wings 3d, but it doesnt export
ive read the wiki page, but that didnt really help
ive tried exporting normal and exporting selected
still says the mesh size is too big
how do i know if the mesh size is correct?
any help would be great
thank you!

thank you! sculpties must be a single surface, and the exporter only supports specific sizes. If you actually just used creat>cube, then it's 6 planes. The way I'll recomend because i'm out of time is to make a sphere, by clicking the little box next to the word, and putting in 32 and 31 as the dimensions. Then torture that to your shape.

You can only use Wings to make sculpty textures for SL, and then only to a very limited number of mesh sizes. Most sculptys are a 32 x 32 texture. Start with one of the sculpty primitive templates in the WIKI, and don't use any tools or commands that change the number of vertices at all.

OK, now that I have more time, a little bit of a better explanation.
Open wings 3d, and rez a sphere, using the size 32x31 (32 on top, 31 on bottom in the dialog box).
Next, stretch it to the approximate proportions you want your cube or box to be, so for a sword blade it would be long and thin.
Select everything, then switch to vertex mode (Hit V), then right click, scale axis, and then choose your axis. Repeat on all axes until you have the approximate shape. I won't tell you specific axes because it really depends on your preference.
Now that ou have a long and thin oblong, switch to an axis view. Select everything, then ctrl+drag to deselect all except 3 or 4 rows on one side looking from this angle. Right click>flatten, then flatten it on the correct axis (Experiment to find the right one). Repeat for the opposite end/side, it will be flattened on the same axis.
Now switch to another axis (If you started on x, switch to y, just for kicks), and do the same thing. now you'll flatten it on a different axis, and you'll start to see it becoming a box. Repeat for the final axis view, and you should have a long, thin rectangle.
Now use tools such as deform>taper, scale uniform, scale radial, etc to get the exact shape you want. If you're trying for a curve, then use bend. If you'd like some more specific info, IM me in-world as Okiphia Rayna or IM me at wormhole456@yahoo.com
