You know, when I first joined Second Life I recall arriving at a hub and eavesdropping on a conversation about land. "I want to move to a new sim" "Waiting for my sale", etc. I heard all that, laughed and said, yeah, like I'm ever going to do that... and flew off.

Anyway, now that I've publicly eaten a tasty crow... It hasn't taken me much more than a month and I'm now hooked up to SL-intravenously (mmm, pixelley) and dying to get one giant piece of land as opposed to my scattershot-holdings in Fujin.

I could attempt to wing it by just selling, buying, etc. but I spend so much time building that it seems a big headache. I'd love to get some advice from those of you who have long since had their first big land reorganization.

Thanks in advance,

The only real advice I think I can offer is that you should perhaps seek to TRADE your land in Fujin for land in the sim you want.

I'm finding myself in a similar situation to you. I've moved sims twice, and reorganized land several times, but that was well before land prices were so high. I mean, most of my land was public when I claimed it. I want to move to one of the winter sims, but I'm discovering that it'll cost something like a month's RL rent. Yeah, that's going to happen.

I think for now, I'm going to sell what land I have remaining, then just be homeless in SL, at least until I can find a landowner in a snowy sim who's interested in some kind of trade, or until the land prices crash back down far enough for me to even come close to affording it.

Until then, if anyone wants to bankroll the construction of a house similar to my old one in Shipley, give me a shout and we can talk. ;)

I would gladly pony up all my land allocation to see your old house rebuilt :)

Thanks for the great advice Catherine. I think I'd opt to trade land at this point if it comes up, but will think carefully about it. In the mean time, I like my home next to the broken bridge.

I'm virtually sentimental. Virtually.
