I just saw this announcement this eve and didnt get a chance to talk much about it inworld. I'm very interested in getting together a team, or getting with a team for this.

Are there teams already formed? What are your plans? Lets discuss so we can keep variety.

Misnomer, I'd like to join in on this...what did you have in mind?

I'm partial to a future, SF style community myself..how about you, or anyone else?

Look for me in-world tonight...I should be on nearly all evening...

I havent formed a full idea yet. I like period ideas like maybe a 40's deco strip (I think of the deco hotels in FLA) or 50's town square with theater, gas station, hot rods and such. I think these hold great promise for items to decorate the area with.

Im more interested in buildings than in huts or tee-pees. I really want something with character and interest and most important FUN!

Actually the more I think about it, the more I lean towards the 50's idea.. anyone interested?

For the Indian Villiage? Absolutely, and would love love LOVE to have you on the team!

So that's 4 -- Paul, Jean (via PM), Steller & moi -- anyone else? We need at least one more (but are not limited to a total of 5 if I understand the rules correctly).

Actually, since I'm from South Florida, doing an Art Deco / 50's style town would be very cool for me...as I could take lots of pics and use them as templates for the SL buildings :D We have *tons* of that kind of architecture around here..lol...

Let me know if you'd like for me to join in on a group with you...

OK I love the 50's idea but the 40's got instant takers. SO....

Anyone else interested in a 1940's era DECO community? We have a team currently made up of :

Misnomer Jones & Josh Starseeker

Sinatra? Steller? Were your notes for us or for Shebang?

Upscale shopping and entertainment
03-06-2003 09:59
Upscale shopping and entertainment area including:
- a shopping village ala Rodeo Drive/Park Avenue/Sotheby's
- arts and entertainment such as art galleries, formal theater, formal gardens
- a marina with yachts. Can be residences or entertainment in the form of cruises.
- a large 'residence', something like Wright's Falling Waters. This would be a communal house for all residents for gatherings, meetings, etc.
- very open to more ideas

If you're interested, please be:
- excellent designer, architect, modeler, builder, texturer, texture creator, event organizer or host
- appreciative of the arts and the finer things in life
- motivated to create items and spaces with exceptional aesthetic appeal
- insistent on planning and organizing but not prone to analysis paralysis
- mature

Lack of money is not a problem if you are skilled or talented in a way that will contribute to this community.

We have 3 people and need 2 more. Would love to have even more than that.

Please email me at kerstin@your2ndlife.com or catch me inworld.

Thanks :)
Kerstin

how many are we allowed to do I mean do you have to apply to lindens to get accepted for project? Im intrested in any and all projects. On the indian projects I just want to contribute little things or animals. I would be intrested in helping with 1940s in like..... interior design

I mean for lindens to help fund this

From: someone
....Most of this new land will be made available to groups of residents who want to join together and build themed communities.

We’re looking for groups of at least five residents who agree to buy land next to each other and build within a set theme. You can be part of more than one community.

From: someone
- You get first crack at a new expanse of land. Linden will own a buffer area of land around you so that each community will be isolated.

From: someone
- Settlements will get to participate in a fun, in-world “community development” contest where the prizes include the chance to exclusively grow their community in a future land expansion.

From: someone
Here’s how to get started:

Residents who want to build together must form a group and the group’s charter must define what is acceptable in terms of building style and behavior. For purposes of communicating with Linden, each group should have a single leader whom we can contact. We will post more guidelines and start taking applications soon.

There is no indication of funding. You CAN be a part of more than one group (provided you can afford to participate in more than one or a team can afford to fund an individuals participation.

Details are just forming, the note was already edited since I last read it. Seems now is time to brainstorm and get your ideas & teams together for when applications are ready. At least this is how I read it.

Hey Jean, if you want join the Art Deco group and do interior design, I think that could work out very well, as interior stuff I'm not so hot on...lol

As for funds for this project, provided our group gets accepted, I'll be cashing in my Mt. Freelon Skydeck build (I'm bored with it already..lol), and toss some of that into a "group kitty", if that's what we want to do, so that we all have enough cash to get our new builds up.

So let us know if that's what you'd like to do....

"1940's Deco"
03-06-2003 10:50
I've been looking around and see that I would be more accurate to say 1930's Deco... since the real era "ended" in 1939 according to historians. Details, details.

Im going to head to chat if anyone is interested in talking about this further.

It is 10:50 pst on Thursday

'30's...40's....the time period doesn't really matter, imo...

Like I said before, since I have easy access to SoBe, I'd be willing to take a bunch of digital pics and upload them, so we can use them for templates and the like, and really develop the character of the place. The SoBe Deco district looks sooo cool, esp. at night - if we can duplicate that kind of look in SL, we'll be getting votes out our rear ends...hehehe..:D

What happened?
03-08-2003 12:51
I'd like to be a part of the Indian (Native American, to be politically correct) village, but it seemed to get trampled by the rush of people talking about 40's deco. Is it still happening?
