I've been trying hard as I can to make a japanese/asian style roof for a build I'm doing.. but I just can't seem to do it! I'm not sure what my problem is.. maybe its super hard at the building size I'm doing (Yeah right lol.. 30x20)

Anyways... is there any tutorial or anything on doing them, or would anyone be willing to help me out? I'm getting really frustrated lol...

I've attached two pics, one of the type of thing I want to do, and one of what I've got so far

Well... I've asked someone in world (Through Builders 911 group) if they would help me, and even together the two of us couldn't figure this out. It seems impossible so far o.o

Whenever we make a cut cylinder for this, and taper it into a cone for the top, and the angle, we end up with too small of an angle to have straight roof sections coming from the curved pieces on the corners. To have this roof work, it would need to create a 90* angle with the 'flat' edges of both cylinders. However.. we can't seem to make this possible o.o

Anyone have any ideas? Now its two frustrated builders lol

Yes after you cut and taper then use the shear tool to slant it. That will point it towards the inside of the build and eliminate that problem.

Hope this helps!

Maybe is not what you are looking for but is effective and nice :).

Although nice, that wasn't quite was I was attempting, Kahiro, but thanks ^^

Problem solved by Pratyeka (Wonderful man btw =P), and also figured out how to do it the traditional prim way.

Exactly how i was doing it was right, only problem was they needed to be shorter to achieve the right angle XD

Thanks all who responded!

Think I've got it though I've also realized the limits of a build with traditional-prim roofing in this style... Though you can do any size build the roof has to be very specific... Which could get annoying. Luckily I have an alternative however, though I need to talk to the creator about possibly having a 'licensed' version for use in builds.

However I'll send you an IM, and see what you've done if you're still willing, when I get home... and maybe show you how I ended up doing it.
