Megaprims were possible to make a long time ago due to an SL bug. You can't make them any more, but existing ones still work and get passed around for people to use.
Be very careful with these, as some of them are large enough to cause major problems, especially if rezzed on the mainland where they might go jutting through neighbors' land or even cross over onto the next sim. Also never ever make one physical, that tends to crash the sim. There are several free packages available on SL Exchange. |

I would like to find the texture for mapping earth itself on a sphere, I have not looked very hard, but if anyone know where, thank you!

Google for "earth texture". You'll find thousands.
Make sure you check the licensing information. While anything on Google Images is obviously easy to copy, that doesn't mean you should just go ahead and do it. If there's no mention of "royalty free" or "free to use" or something to that effect, don't use that image. Here's a great one that is public domain: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/BlueMarble/Images/land_ocean_ice_cloud_2048.jpg _____________________

Land now available for rent in Indigo. Low rates. Quiet, low-lag mainland sim with good neighbors. IM me in-world if you're interested. |

Many thanks for the info.
Specially making large prims a phantom. I did not know that and just went round the island and turned them all to phantom. ![]() Salar |

Many thanks for the info. Specially making large prims a phantom. I did not know that and just went round the island and turned them all to phantom. ![]() Salar Just to be extra-clear: when I suggested you not make huge prims physical, that isn't the same thing as needing to go around making them all phantom. You can have prims that are not phantom and also are not physical. They'll be "solid" but won't be affected by gravity, energy and the like. To my knowledge there's nothing intrinsically wrong with non-phantom megaprims. Although that said, if they don't need to be solid might as well make them phantom as I believe phantom prims exert (very very slightly) less strain on the sim insofar as collision information does not need to be calculated, and that effect might be somewhat more considerable when using megaprims. But there are certainly plenty of builds around that use non-phantom megaprims for walls and floors and other things you don't want people to just be able to walk through ![]() |
