I guess this is more of a question than a request for things to do in SL.
What else can we get involved with besides building? I understand that the world is highly depended on "creating" objects, buildings, and infrastructures, but is there anything else that we can get involved with in SL?.......I can't come up with anything at this point. Any suggestions?

This seems a very pertinent question. Right now, I think SL's main appeal is the boggling scope that the user has in being able to create 'things' - homes, outfits, venues, things that move, things that make sounds, things to interact with etc. How can that be broadened out to include more activities? What other kinds of creativity can a user indulge?
Like, here's an off-the-top-of-the-head list: sport, work, art, performance, publishing, conflict, debate, gambling, pets, law, privacy, communities of interest...etc. Can these kinda things become part of the fabric of SL?
From speaking with the Linden folk, it seems like the idea is not to impose social stuctures, but to give people the opportunity to create what they want/need. So, beyond the basic economic system, it's the users who decide on the 'value' of things, how to buy and sell and so on. Same principle would apply other activities - they'd spontaneousy occur if enough people want them and are prepared to experiment.
So, for instance, I'd like to work on some kind of publishing venture. Some kinda regular update of news at SL - text, sound, images, whatever. If anyone else is interested in that and has some building skills, just let me know.

Amazon -
love the publishing idea. Ryan and I are building some newspaper vending objects which will work like the help kiosks. An author can insert text into a note card, then use the vending objects to distribute (either for $ or free) copies of the newspaper. This could be one easy way to support in-world publishing and could get quite creative. Let's continue the discussion on the new forums once our website is relaunched tonight (tuesday).
