I'm doing a relatively long necklace -- i.e., it's not just a simple circle of a choker, but follows the curve of the shoulders. The chain is made up of little torus links. I've got the left side of the chain done fine: it goes from the pendant in the front to the middle of the neck in the back, and doesn't just follow the shoulders, but also tilts against the neck. It looks pretty good.
And now I'm wondering the best way to make the right side.
See, because the links also lean in towards the neck, mirroring it requires (as far as I know) mirroring it along two axes. I tried making copies of each individual link and rotating them using local axes, but that only gave so-so results. I tried rotating them using the world axes, but that made my head hurt. I tried rotating them by numbers, but that was an even worse headache.
Any tips? Am I doing something wrong? Should local axis rotation do the trick, despite my earlier difficulties with it?
Thanks.

Hi Miriel, I have used a couple different methods and I'm still trying other ways to do it easier. I have copied just a few links and worked my way up adjusting a few at a time. I have tried to grab the whole right side of the necklace and tried to work it in that way..at least the links would be "close" to only discover that didn't work. I still find myself doing much of the linking one link at a time adjusting them as I go.
GL, I can't wait to see your finished project!

That works wonders. Make sure you're using a copy of your item, because it moves it, it doesn't make a copy. And test it with a large angled prim (cones are good) first, to make sure the 'mirror' is at the right rotation, else you might end up with your necklace mirrored upside-down or on another axis If the angle is wrong, just rotate the 'mirror' prim until it's right. Something else I found is that if you *do* get it wrong, just drop the 'original' script back into your prim and it will (dur, I know I know it's obvious but still) revert to where it was before. Damage undone. Jeffrey Gomez is owed my firstborn for that script. Ok, perhaps that's a bit much. My third.

Does the mirror script mirror each prim individually, or does it just take the entire object and flip it? Because I think the former's what I'll need, and I was never very good at using the mirror script.

From: Miriel Enfield Does the mirror script mirror each prim individually, or does it just take the entire object and flip it? Because I think the former's what I'll need, and I was never very good at using the mirror script. It mirrors each prim individually - basically, you set up a mirror prim by dropping the second, smaller script into it, then drop the mirroring script into each prim and it will snap into its new position. Once the object is mirrored, it might need rotating into place - or just orient the mirror prim before doing the mirroring. I've been using those scripts for a while to mirror jewelry and they're an excellent timesaver. There are a few cases that need manual cleanup though: one being box / cylinder changed into sphere, dimpled and then changed back - the sphere dimple setting doesn't get preserved by mirroring; and I've had the occasional problem with torii. Well, if you'd like to see the scripts demoed just IM me in-world

Thanks, everyone. I'll try the script out later and see what I can do.
