The goal of Project Deco is to create a tropical beach community in the Art Deco architectural style of the 1920s and 30s. The clean lines and geometry of the Art Deco style translates well to Second Life, with a minimum number of primitives required to accurately depict a highly realistic environment.
Situated on the scenic Second Life coastline, the resort town of Deco
Beach makes use of a series of ascending terraces rising up from the shoreline. This multilevel design results in a highly efficient use of space, and serves to subtly draw visitors up from the waterfront to the larger buildings.
The Theater will serve as a center for larger events, generally of the performer / audience type or for display items such as for build contests. Smaller, more intimate gatherings can be held in the Hotel, which features a lounge, pool and dance hall, complete with era music.
The Marina will feature small sailboats and pleasure craft, and as space permits, a scaled down ocean liner or cruise ship.
Additional attractions include a museum, casino, 1930’s movie set, a high-rise structure designed in the style of New York’s Chrysler or Empire State Buildings, shopping center and a player services area.
The Museum will double as a shopping area for era artifacts, art, & furniture.
The Casino will feature several different traditional gaming tables and provide simple entertainment.
The Movie Set will be set up in the “gangster” style and will be arranged so you can take your photo “with” era movie stars and props.
The high-rise tower, though mostly a façade, will feature an observation deck, from which visitors will be able to look out over the city.
The shopping center will feature shops selling period goods positioned beneath a terraced garden.
The player services building will serve as the Deco Beach planning office during construction, and afterwards, include helpful guides and tutorials for both new and old residents to brush up on their skills or learn new ones.
Project Deco will be completed in three phases. Please refer to the available diagram temorarily located at:
