make your bridge, put it in place. then take two more prims, place one in each sim, extend each one over the border of the sim so they cross over, but keep the center point of the prims in their respective sims, lower the two prims just underneath the top of the road, make alpha, lock into place, and that will help. some people use mega prims for this.

Answered in detail in this thread:

The Sunrise Hopes bridge mentioned in my posts no longer exists, but the technique works quite well.

Y'all rock. I was trying to figure this out the other day because our main sim is land, and our 2nd sim is "light use" with mostly open ocean and a small island. I wanted a few docks and piers extending out into the ocean, but kept falling through when I hit the border.

Once again ... the commuinity has the right answer !!

Hi

So, Island and I tried this, as Ceera described in the earlier thread. In fact, we had it working last night already. Multpile tried, all worked fine.

But oddly today, it no longer works. Tried several different variations, but nada.

Ceera, your post was written nearly 3 years ago. Since then, we got Havoc 4. Could that have affected how this should be done? Otoh, since we had it worked last night, maybe it is an SL glitch today?

two things,

1. try having the maximum amount of the root prim firmly in their respective sims.

2. previous to the last server update/RC11 when I wanted a sky box to work on, I'd rez the cube, sit on it, adjust z to height, stand up, fly, hover back up over the prim, resize to 10x10x0.5 and land on said prim, now when I do all that I don't land, my avatar falls straight through the prim, I have fly back up and land on the second attempt, so it may have something to do with that, you probably have the best solution now, but just have to accept that it may not work all the time.

Hum, I've found myself going through floors on TPing to locations in the same SIM (eg, using a LM to go from my garden to inside my house). So yes, that might be part of the problem.

OK, thanks for the comment. :-)

It still should work under Havok 4. It worked fine at Sunrise Hopes and at many other places where I had done that trick, after Havok 4 was introduced.

Make sure the root prim for each linkset is firmly on the side of the sim opposite from the 'extension'. In other words, if you have two visible prims, one on side A and one on side B, the extension in B has to be part of the linkset in A, and vice versa. This has to be accomplished by linking the parts while they ara all in the same sim, and then readjusting the position f the whole linkset, or of just the linked extension prim, to push the extension over the line.

Altitude may be a factor. How high is your build, and which version of the SL client are you using?

Yep, You can't link two prims while they are in different sims.

A simple way to do it, withoug moving the whole bridge, is to copy the bridge decking SIDEWAYS, along the sim edge. Then make it transparent, a hair thinner then the original, and link it to the rest of the bridge. Then edit linked parts to slide it back in line with the rest of the parts, and push that one prim over the edge. It will remain linked, but will be extending into the next sim.
