Is there anyway to turn the highlight that appears around the prim you are editing off? Its annoyingly bright, and gets in the way when you are trying to get precision joins.
I have looked through the Debug menu and all the rest and i cannot see a check button to turn it off. Am i missing something somewhere,i don't see the need for me to know visually what i'm working on..seeing as it was me that chose it.

Edited to note: I know the highlight flashes off as you move/stretch the prim, but when you are zoomed in close,as soon as you release the button the highlight becomes visable again. Only thing i have found to do is zoom back out, click the floor/sky then zoom back in. Seems a waste of time to do this ,no? lol

I don't think there's any way to actually turn them off permanently, as that would make it impssobile to tell when something is selected, but the good news is that as soon as you touch any of the manipulator handles, the highlights disappear. This is so that they will not interfere with eyeballing things like alignment and joints. They only reappear when you let go.
I agree that they are unnecessarily bright, but even so, they work a hell of a lot better than they used to. At least every object selected gets highlighted now, unlike before when it was only the first few.
Anyway, for precision I highly recommend building by the numbers, highlights or no highlights. It's much more acurate, much faster when you get used to it, and it makes the highlights a moot point.

Maybe for smaller builds i have found that they work well, but make something big such as a house and they soon leave gaps and misalign themselves somehow lol I also have found that linking objects tends to cause misalignment aswell which is a major pain in the arse when you building homes and linking them to make them easier for the buyer to move into position.Maybe i'm doing something wrong lol. Thats more likley seeing as i'm still learning new tecniques each time i log on. -LW

It's too bad they couldn't impliment a 'Toggled' or 'slider' style option in edit mode for the highlight. It's TOO bright! Besides I really don't need a constant halo to remind me of what an angel I am for even attempting some builds.

Sorry for the necro post, but I was searching the forum for this very thing. I was also praying that there was an answer to the highlight around the prims when you have the edit window open. Alas, none. : ( Has anything changed since this thread was first posted (almost 3 years ago LOL), and is there now a way to turn the bright yellow outline off? It's annoying as heck to me, and I feel I could be more productive without it.

I think there's a setting called Show Selection Beam, maybe under the Tools menu, that you might want to disable..

From: Meade Paravane I think there's a setting called Show Selection Beam, maybe under the Tools menu, that you might want to disable.. Thanks for the suggestion!I tried it out, but that option just turns off the particle beam that goes from your avie to the prim you are editing.

Yes, there is. It's in the debug menu:
SelectionHighlight
Alpha to VAnim
You have to relog for the changes to take effect.
