Physics of 2 nonlinked objects?

Okay...I'm a complete newbie.
I'm really enjoying learning to build and experiment
in Olive more than anything else so far.

My question is about physics.

I have built a working axle+2 wheels.
I put them into a simple cylinder as a
frame for a land vehicle.
I cannot turn on physics on them now.
Is it only possible to turn on physics if
all your objects are linked?

I want the wheels to turn... not my
entire vehicle. Lol!

If I cannot run physics on nonlinked
objects, are there any other suggestions?

If the objects are all touching each other, and they are not linked, you will not be able to turn physics open. If objects that are not linked, and any part of the object is penetrating (hehe, penterate..oh), then physics cannot be turned on in the object.

There is no good way that i know of to make a land vehicle in which the wheels turn. Of course, if anyone knows how to, that's great, but all the land vehicles i remember seeing, the wheels didn't really turn.

I cheated with my monocycle wheel. When in motion, I used llSetAnim to make the tyre texture smoothly rotate around the static wheel. I intended to change the speed of the texture anim depending on the velocity of the monocycle but, as happens all to often in SL, other projects took priority (I.E. I have alot of unfinished projects hehe).
