'take' makes 'no mod' ??

If I have an object with 'no copy' permission, set it out and modify it, and then take it, it becomes 'no mod'! Why does this happen? Is there a workaround? I've seen this happen a couple times now with different objects.

For example, my friend had a lovely diamond necklace, but one of the gems was missing -- turned out to be inside her body. She transferred it to me and I fixed it, but after 'take', it was no mod! (Good thing I fixed it correctly!) I would have liked to put some bling in this neckace, though, but now I can't.

Thanks,
Jeff

Have you tried editing it, or just looked at the permissions stated in your inventory list?

I get this question with regards to my houses I sell with modify permissions- they show (no mod) in the buy window and in inventory, but this is only due to scripts inside being unreadable. The objects themselves, when rezzed in-world, can be edited.

For attachments, I think you can't edit notecards/scripts while wearing them. I always have to drop my ZHAO to change it.

I don't know if these relate to your problem, just guessing.
