Falling through the floor

Recently installed a prefab home, one section of first floor in living room - when walking on it I fall through to the waste. Have done many prefab homes and never had this happen, the piece is already 10m deep and I have raised land all the way above the floor and then lowered it to just the point I do not see any dirt in living room. Any ideas on how I can stop falling into my living room floor?

Thanks for any input.

That reminds me of "half-instantiated" objects that I had a problem with a year or so ago.

These odd objects were visible, but you could not select them or delete them; they also didn't show object beacons (under debug). Following a sim reboot, the half-baked objects were gone.

Try selecting and editing the floor. It may not really be "there".

if the permissions allow try going into the edit menu and toggling phatom on and off there is some wierdo bugs around I had built a house once where suddenly i was falling through the floor where one of the prims were. It has somehow become phantom (was wondering why no one was going near that particular corner found out one day when i went over there hehe) the floor was not originally like that it just seemed to 'Happen"

I contacted Linden Help about it when that happened to me (after going crazy linking/unlinking and checking prims to see if they had reverted to phantom). They said that the sim just needed to be restarted. Voila, no more falling through floors!

A friend Of mine just had this happen a few days ago.
There was something very odd with the build she had. If we sat on them you would end up flying 1000s of meters into the air. She had mod right. So I asked for her to give me mod right so I could see if there was a script that was not quite working right. She also unlink all the items. shortly after she unlinked them I fell thru the floor. I could select the times but could not move them. I told her to stay online. I restarted the client. Then found the object wher not there. even though she could still see them and select them. The bad part was she lost this gift that was given to her.

Different syndrome, as the "half-instantied" objects persisted through logins and cache clearing and were visible to all clients.

I think what you are talking about used to be called a "ghost". A ghost is left when the object is deleted from the sim but the client is never told about it. The way you can tell if you are seeing a ghost is that you can edit it but it has no properties (owner, etc.). I haven't seen ghosts in a long time but they used to be pretty prevalent.

Sorry about your lost item though.

If the floor piece you fell through was the root prim, it's an annoying bug that's been around for ages, and your floor will go ghostly again in future.

Quick fix is to change the prim to shake it up. Something like a quick change of Z thickness up and back down again will fix it.

Mine has not returned but since i am finished farting around with the structure (for now) its mostly unlinked with the "locked" mode on but I think that was the root prim on mine hehe (err when it was linked..)

if the build borders a sim falling thru solid floors can be experienced near the border as well.
