i have been in sl for a year and a half now
i never thought about creating and building things until i came to sl and i was able to make things and do things i cant do in real life

now we have sculpties

ive only ever built with in sl tools

how does someone like me with no rl experience in all these prgams learn one and be as productive in sl as i have been

i need to know what ones is easiest for someone with no experience to learn and if possible free i am not in a rl situation that i can pay for some expensive program

i will still continue building the way i always have and hope my old clean low prim style continues to sell

Also looking for a good answer to this questions, was going to start like I always have and just start and see what happens. Thought you could download the obj and max textures so forth for the sculpties now, nothing seems different in the upload section. So even if I can learn one of the many programs being thrown arround as suggestions how do I get the stuff into SL?

This was the way I figured out how to finally get a sculptie in world. If you follow directions, make sure you download the latest version of wings3d (not the stable version, the one under the stable version on the main page of wings3d). Install the files in the zip into the plugin - import/export directory you will be able to export bmp files that can be directly uploaded into SL.

I have never touched a 3d program and wings3d got me my first results. However wings3d for me, being such a novice, I end up with a unrounded circle with crazy shapes coming out of it. I got something in world, but totally useless.

Now this below was made for SL, and it saves TGA format. I actually could make a mushroom, barbell, 2 car tires with axel, pretty easy. Anything symetrical. Have no clue how to texture it yet though.

That was easier than learning poser^. Seems limiting now, but it was very easy to save as a tga file, upload into SL, and get a sculptie going.

To get a sculptie, create object, right click edit, "object tab", building block type, scroll down to sculptie and you will see the colorful texture and an apple appear (your box will change). Simple drag the uploaded texture file you created using kanae, and drop it in the texture box. This is actually very easy.
