Hi,

I've been playing about making a small building, i can use all the tools ok but is it just me or does it take a VERY long time to line all the walls up?

Is there a simple guide to x y z? for example the back wall z blue is bottom line, but a side wall z blue has a different number to go in.

Has anyone got any basic tips for me to help me build a little quicker? I'm only doing straight line stuff but i find myself in and out views moving about all over the place trying to line it all up.

When i move items about it starts flashing yellow, what does this mean?

Many thanks for your help

Building Tips

There are lots of ways to speed up builds and perfectly line up walls and the sort. Most is done purely by practice. If I were you I"d do a search on the Ivory tower of primitives. This has a tutorail that shows many techniques. Once you make it through that, just practice, practice, and maybe practice a little more. If you need anymore help feel free to drop me a line in world, I'd be happy to show you a few things.

Ditto the recommendation that you study the tutorials at the Ivory Tower of Primitives, but I will try to answer some of your questions.

Anything takes longer to do the first several times you do it, but there are a few tricks that can speed up things like alignment.

1. Use the grid to align things.
2. Use coordinates and even dimensions on object sizes that allow the centers or edges to align.

There are different X, Y, Z designations, but you can use them to line things up mathmatically instead of by eyeball.

Coordinate System: the center locationo of every prim is defined by its location, as follows:
X = the location in the East to West direction. From 0 to 256
Y = the location in the South to North direction. From 0 to 256
Z = the location from Bottom to top in a sim. From 0 to 760 +/-

Dimensions: refers to the size of a prim as first rezzed when all rotations are zero.
X the dimension in the along the X axis from East to West.
Y the dimension along the Y axis, from South to North
z the dimension along the z axis, from bottom to top

Rotations: refers to the rotation of the object around the X, Y and Z axis, from 0 to 360 degrees.
x the rotation around the X axis.
y the rotation around the y axis
z the rotation around the z axis

Hmm, this question is not clear to me what you mean, Please try describing it more.
