I am trying to create some blood vessels in SL. They are lame, but so far I have managed to make a sculpted curvy tube connected to a torus. When I view the image from nearby - it looks fine. When I back away, major gaps appear where the sculpty connects to the torus.

I've (hopefully) attached the photos.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Doug

That's just how sculpties act in SL a lot of times. As far as the actual engine is concerned, it's a sphere. Your camera angle will change how the sculpty is displayed depending on how close or far you are from it.

If I guess your modelling method correctly, you've got a elongated and twisty cylinder, and what is happening is your sculpt is hitting the next lowest level of detail and the first row is dropping off. The "end pinch point" remains however, so you're seeing this sharp pointy bit where the nice smooth edge of your cylinder used to be! Drat!

What you can do is take the second ring from the end, and move it right up ontop of thefirst ring. That way when the first ring collapses, the shape won't change as the second ring will take its place.

Hi Meade,

You may be right. Doesn't seem to make a difference which viewer I use (RC or normal) but the issues discussed in that thread sure seem like what I am experiencing.

Thanks for the link,

Doug

Hi Daniel,

I will definitely try that. I am using the Black Box Sculpt Studio to try and make this. I'll play around with the configuration of the end rings and see if that helps.

FWIW, if I change the Object Mesh Detail slider, I can move much farther away before the gaps start to appear.

Thanks for the great tip,

Doug
