Soft Unlinkable Prims

This might belong in another catagory, but for once I'm not complaining, rather offering what might be helpful to others afflicted with this nasty bug.

Im speaking of that prim in your build that seems to be phantom (cause you sink through it), but the phantom box is unchecked. It also glitches the linking process. If you should manage to get it linked, unlinking one part while working in "edit linked parts" unlinks the whole mess.

I was going nuts with this last night, and all the suggestions (but one) from live help wasn't helping. But by selecting the whole mess (unlinked) and doing a take, then replanting the the entire object cured the soft prim, and I was able to continue the build without further problems.

hope this keeps another from going batty like I did.

MUCH Faster Way To Do This

Thanks for the suggestion, but let me save you some work next time this happens. Taking the object into inventory and then back out again solves the problem, sure, but it also requires you to do work to replace the item exactly where it was. There's a much simler and faster way.

Next time, try this: Select the problem prim, and then hold down shift and move the prim in any direction by clicking and dragging one of the manipluator handles (process known as "shift-dragging";). You'll see that as the prim moves away, it will leave a new copy of itself behind. This new copy will behave properly, and it will already be where you want it. No manual replacement required. Now simply delete the original prim, and continue.

Problem solved in 2 clicks and 2 keystrokes, no menus, no lists, no numbers. Just select, shift-drag, delete. Process takes one second or less, literally.
