I'm working on a build of 90 prims (so far). This is my first big build, and it's for the group I head. Another owner of the group (we're both new) asked if I could set permissions so she could modify some of the prims. I linked a few sets together and deeded them to the group. I didn't realize until I was done that I'd needed to set permissions for next owner to modify and copy. Now I have a bunch of linked sets that I can't do anything with, even though I'm a group owner. I can't even delete them! Is there any way to get the perms back? Do I have to rebuild from scratch? If I can't get perms back, how the heck can I get rid of the sets?

Next owner permissions are irreversible as far as I'm aware

Delete and re-build it is your only choice. The new owner must delete it.
Once the build transferred to the group, the next owner perms went into effect. You can make them even more restrictive, but never less.
Always take a copy of your building work BEFORE you transfer it to someone else, to prevent this in the future.
To allow them to make some alterations, you could also grant them the right to modify your objects. The build is still 'yours', but they can change what is there.
FYI - you can't link prims with multiple owners, so if they add prims they need to sell those prims to you before you link them in.

Thanks, Ace and Ceera. And dammit. Screwed up bigtime there. So as an owner of the group, I still have the option to delete if not modify? Man, all that math down the drain. Guess I won't forget this experience anytime soon.

Don't worry about it too much- next time you'll find SL just deleted your build and you'll never get it back.
That's happened to me twice.

Can't you return it? No copy items are sent back to the original owner, aren't they?
Not in game to test this but about 3 months ago a group I had some items deeded to did a return and filled my L&F folder. They were all set to transfer yes but mod/copy no (default perms).

"Man, all that math down the drain"
This sends waves of sympathy through my soul. I built a Rietveld house - don't know if you're familiar with it, but let me tell you there are MANY angles...I did all the math , and at some point one gets weary. Not here to plug any product, but just in case you didn't know such a thing existed: buy Prim Docker. Around 500 Lindens, and you'll rarely have to do any math anymore. Even if one adored making the same calculations over and over, the time you save would be worth it. So use it, and you won't be too depressed over having to make the build anew.

returns

I think no copy items are deleted when returned after an object is deeded, but i could be wrong. Either way, an easier way to allow another group owner to modify your objects is to simply give them modify permissions in your friends list. It might be possible to check "share with group" without actually deeding the item and changing its owner to accomplish the same things.
