I wrote a tutorial to make sculpties from the perspective of a complete newbie to Blender. It is at http://iramblesorry.blogspot.com I think it's pretty thorough, hopefully it helps someone.

Nice Lex .... worked well.
Be even nicer if there was a script that would do all the texture baking ![]() gryff ![]() |

The best way to solve the problem of extensive texture baking is to set up a cylinder or cube with the correct setting and save it as 'cylender template.blend'. then any time that you want to make something you simply open it and do 'Save as".

Also, check the comments on that post, someone made mention of using another file to load the Material settings from. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it looks useful.
Wish I'd known that before making dozens of models though... |

Wow... suddenly I feel like I can work with blender too
Thank youBy the way... if I left-click somewhere (which is a habbit of mine and annoys me greatly) it moves that red/white circle... Does it matter? Does it have a purpose? Lyn |

Left clicking sets the new object position. And I do it too, dozens of times, when I'm working in Blender.

Thanks for putting that together. Biggest problem or one of them is some of the bottom half screen has so many choices and are so small, there is so much to know.
I have been struggling with the thing for long time, I finally figured out how to use the exit button. I will try out your tutorial. |

thanks for the tutorial, but after trying to figure out what the heck blender wanted me to do, and then going through other tutorials that only assume i know 50% about how it already works, everything seems to be long-winded
im starting to give up on blender, and im hoping 3d studio max will be better. dont mean to complain, but blender is just so frustrating. maybe once i take a long break, i read everything in the tutorial |

nice tutorial! Now can we have a tutorial on texture mapping in Blender? How do we paint on the surface of the object and get a texture to upload in SL and apply it to the sculpty so we can put flower on a jar, for example?

This was awesome!!!!
I've now created a bunch of sculpties using the techniques you've outlined. As a noob to Blender I really appreciate the way this was written I can be somewhat productive while I learn the *whys* befhind what you've spelled out here. This was exactly what I needed to get a running start - thank you!!! Now a tutorial on texturing the sculpties written same way would be PERFECT!!! Thx again!!!! DK |
