I am currently working on a project on an island and require more prims, I would like to buy somewhere cheap and then transfer the prims across to my island.

If anyone knows how to do this or any other way of obtaining more prims it would be great to find out how!

Thanks

Lee

I think you can acquire more prims from the same sim not from another sim. So you need to try to find more land in your island, not anywhere else.

You must buy land in same region as your land to use prims.

Prims are region (sim) allocated. Sorry, they will not transfer across regions.

Do you own the whole island?

If all the prims of the entire sim are used up, that's it. On the other hand that's a lot of prims...

When it comes to getting more prims, the only means I'm knowledgeable about is reducing the prims you already have (It's this subject that I probably obsess over in SL). On the most basic level that's removing prims that could be adequately replaced with textures (I've seen metal suits that use prims for every little bolt on the surface... although that's an avatar attachment, which doesn't count toward the sim total). There's also making full use of a single prim's capabilities, such as using a hollowed and cut box prim as two walls on any corner (I and likely others here have had a good deal of practice figuring out efficient methods, so you could ask more...), and quite possibly changing the design a bit to fit with what SL's prims can do.

I've heard there may be hack-ish means of getting extra prims involving temporary prims and such, but I'm not sure that even these can get you over the whole sim's limit.

Unless it is Openspace, in which case it is only 1875 prims for the whole region.

Not quite that bad...

Full sim = 15,000 prims max
Openspaces sim = 3,750 prims max

Four Openspaces sims share the resources of one normal sim server, each getting 1/4 the prim allocation for the land area. That is why they are sold in sets of 4, at the same price as a single normal sim.

But getting back to the original poster's issue, only land that is in the same sim can add to your prim allocation. Land in any other sim is a seperate allocation, and it is impossible to share prims between any two sims. You can't even push prim count from one Openspaces sim to another in the same 4-unit cluster on the same server.

OK, maybe they've changed it. I was citing the value Linden advertised.

get a bunch of libsl bots to "wear" large chunks of scenery prims while sat on rigid posing stands. It'll all be phantom but you can go bananas.
