Ok so I bought my first property and decided to go with a pre-built home from Hoffman. When I layed it out on my land I started moving it around, attempting to get it in the right place. Eventually what was originally a 12 piece house turned into many more because the objects got disconnected or something. Now the house "auto-align" feature doesn't even fix the problem. How can I fix this? and if I can't how can I prevent this from happening in the future? When I would move the house only the center part would move, then I would autoalign, but there has to be a way to move the whole thing, right? And I did try going to edit and selecting the whole house but parts of it would not get selected and I would have the same problem. Thanks in advance for your help folks!

Assuming the house is copyable in your inventory, I'd suggest you delete the one that's on the ground, and then rez a new fresh copy. Make sure you're in build mode before you drag the new copy out of inventory. That way, all the parts will be selected in advance. From there, you can move it all as one unit, as long as you don't deselect anything.

Just so you know, if you want to select all the objects in an area, you can draw a selection box. It helps to make sure "select only my objects" is turned on the Tools menu. Just zoom out to where you can see everything you want to grab, make sure you're in edit mode (editor window is open, arrow tool is selected, not wand tool or steamroller tool or anything else), click and hold the left mouse button, and drag to draw a box around everything.

Best bet is to contact the builder for advice, but here is some general help.

A good home builder will have a set-up instructions notecard in the box with the home, or embedded in the home. If you can find and read that, it will likely solve all your problems.

You probably had a 'rez box' that initially you drag from inventory, and then touch for a menu that places the 12 or more pieces in-world for you. Moving that box and selecting the auto-align or move feature will usually move the house in a relative manner, and put everything together seamlessly again. A rez box also usually has a clean-up function, that picks up all the parts so you can start over, or move elsewhwere.

If you DO NOT HAVE A BACKUP COPY, stop now, and contact the builder for help.

If there is no rez box to control it with, and if you have a backup copy in inventory, delete the parts and start over. Activate the building menu in edit mode, then try rezzing the house again from the copy in inventory. All the parts should remain selected, no matter how many parts it has. Move them slowly, and they should all stay in alignment. If you move them too fast - especially if you rotate too fast, they can get out of alignment.

patience with rezzing and moving, i have noticed that sometimes if you move to fast before all parts rez properly, they fall to pieces. give it a minute to light up its parts.
